while looking back at the little things

moments that fly by

I see things differently

in this life, in dreams, in everything

I notice the little things

and I appreciate what I have in life

when time slows down

I wrote this poem about reflecting back on the small moments in life and the joy that those simple and yet precious memories can inspire, like the memory of baking sweet potato cookies or making a cup of coffee in the morning. It's easy to overlook the "little things" in life even though those moments hold power in their ability to remind oneself of moments of happiness. And just as it is easy to overlook the little things in life, there is a small but important element of this poem that may not be obvious upon a first read. It encourages its reader to read it again but with a new and open perspective. In short, the "Little Things" poem calls for reflection.
