In celebration of the first day of fall (9.22.25), here's a haiku, "Autumn's Arrival."
There was a wild roar
Shaking trees with a faint breeze
Screaming change is here.

Let pumpkin spice season commence!

Ah, fall, the most wonderful season of them all! The season of change.
As a writer I look forward to seeing how my craft will continue to evolve over the years.
Looking back, reading through old essays and manuscripts, I can see that I have improved. Even when I return to the start of a first draft, I can tell my writing style has changed over the span of a few chapters as I become more comfortable with the point of views and the voice in which I am writing in. Instead, of getting stuck on the fine details or lost at the start of writing a novel, I push through the rough patches and force myself to continue until I emerge from the dark forest into the light. That way, I can finish a first draft and return to the start of the manuscript prepared to fix the errors I had made, because I underwent a journey and learned from my mistakes. In short, I grew from the experience to bring about a better change to my own writing and self.
Sometimes it feels like moving on from one draft to another is like moving on from one season to the next. Gradually the process of writing and editing unfolds until I find myself at a final draft, the end of a year, another complete manuscript and conclusion to yet another journey taken as a writer.
It is my goal to continue to improve my craft and to grow as a writer. So, here's to fall! Here's to another manuscript! Here's to life (oh, and pumpkin spice lattes)!
